Early Childhood Care and Education

This program is designed to prepare students to become licensed as an ECE. The program consists of 24 units of study which include 12 core courses and 12 elective courses. Students must earn a minimum grade point average of 3.0 in order to graduate.

Licensure Requirements

Students must pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). To do so, they must first receive their bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. In addition, applicants must provide proof of successful completion of the NCCE exam.

Students should check with their local licensing board to determine what additional requirements exist.

Additional Information

All distance education programs offered by NC State University require a student to maintain satisfactory academic progress while enrolled. If a student does not successfully complete a course, he/she may lose credit toward graduation. A student must have earned a cumulative GPA of 2.00 on a 4.00 scale to remain eligible for graduation.
